IHLARA VALLEY
ACTIVITY DETAIL
Located in the southern part of Cappadocia within the borders of Aksaray province, Ihlara Valley is a unique destination where nature and history meet. Stretching approximately 14 kilometers, the valley was formed by the Melendiz River over thousands of years, creating a deep canyon landscape. Along Ihlara Valley, visitors can observe various shades of green, including willow, poplar, and fruit trees. The valley is home to rock-carved churches, chapels, caves, and ancient living spaces. These structures were especially used by Christian monks throughout history and reflect the region's cultural richness. Access to the valley floor is provided by a stairway of 397 steps. After descending, visitors can enjoy a peaceful walk alongside the Melendiz River. Today, Ihlara Valley stands out as one of the most important natural and historical hiking routes in Cappadocia tourism.
