Zindan Hill is a historical area consisting of high rocky formations located very close to the Ortahisar region in Cappadocia. Situated approximately 2 km from the center of Ortahisar town, Zindan Hill is believed to date back to the Byzantine period. According to historical sources, this area was once used as a courthouse and judicial center. The deep pits found on Zindan Hill, resembling graves, are thought to be related to punishment and detention practices of the era. Thanks to its rocky structure and strategic location, Zindan Hill served both defensive and administrative purposes and offers valuable insights into Cappadocia history. Today, this historical site is included in Cappadocia tourism routes and stands out as an impressive stop for visitors exploring the Ortahisar area.
